Implants – the best alternative to natural teeth

Single Tooth Implant

Implants offer a solid, permanent replacement to your natural teeth by functioning as anchors for dentures, crowns or bridges.

A new artificial tooth can be attached to an implant. This can be an excellent way of replacing a missing tooth or teeth, because other teeth are not involved.

An implant is like an artificial tooth root, and is placed into the jaw bone where a tooth has been lost.

One or more implants can be used, depending on the size of the space. After a time of healing (usually a few months) an artificial tooth is attached to the implant.

Treatment takes between six to twelve months to complete.

Not everyone has the right jaw structure for this treatment, and you will need to be checked by your dentist to see if an implant is the right option for you.

Benefits of an implant include:

  • They look good, by supporting teeth that look, feel and act like real teeth.

  • No pain or irritation when chewing and eating. Foods previously forbidden can be brought back into your diet.

  • Better tasting food – dentures are plastic and affect the taste of food. Implants do not.

  • Implants help maintain your bone structure and support your facial tissues – reducing or eliminating the ‘shrunken jaw look’.

  • Implants have been around for more than 25 years and enjoy a near one hundred percent success rate.
